Psalms 130

1 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.

2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

3 If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

5 I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

7 Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

Direction to redemption

1) Cry Out

2) Ask Forgivness

3) Wait

4) Receive

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Psalms 51:5
Not that David’s mother begat him in a sinful way herself, he is saying that I started out as sinful at the moment that he came into existence.

Before I came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, I had no knowledge of sin except what I knew of God’s Word. At that time I did not understand that sin was not only something that I did from time to time: I was sin. It was not an occasional oops, it was a constant state of existence. Without Jesus, sin is a perpetual state of being, you are nothing else. You have you good moments, which are all as filthy rags before God; Who is all Holy. But this is not what God cares about. God has to judge you based on His standards, ones that we cannot reach on our on merits, not ever. That is why He had to provide the sacrifice of His only begotten Son. Look closely at Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

It was while we were sinners, think about it: He did it while we were sinners because we could not come out of that state to be anything else. What if you accidently dropped something of great value into a dirty toliet? You have to get it back, it is not going to be able to jump out on its own and clean itself up. You must retrieve it from the awful place it is in. What God must have felt when He came down here to retrieve us out of the mire that we were in.

If you have not had that salvation moment; the point of time that you confessed your sin (not just acts but your sinful state), recognized Jesus are the only answer to this issue, and believed that He was crucifed and rasied from the dead for your attonement: you are still in that state and need to address that. Perhaps you were not given the call for repentance in this exact manner. God knows where your heart is. Perhaps this is the time that He is making all the details of your commitment to Him understood. What did it really mean when I asked the Lord to save me. What happen to me? Am I transformed? Am I continuing to be transformed? Is sin something I am or is it just something I do on the rare occasion?

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27 Are you hearing His voice? Is He speaking to you from His Word?

I was in a sinful state, but now I am sinless in Christ. I am free from sin.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:2
Does this mean that Donny Phillips will not ever displease God again in his thoughts, words, or actions. Yeah right. I so wish it it was so. But it is not. After we receive Christ, we are in a continual process of sanctification. Why else would the beloved apostle write for our need to confess sin and ask forgivness in a reoccuring manner as seen in 1 John 1:9

My prayer is that you understand God’s Word and your place in His kingdom. If you have had that salvation experience and the enemy is after you (he will be), I pray this encourages you and provokes you into closer walk with the Lord. But if this is your first encounter with the Word of God and you know you need to turn your life over to Jesus for the slavation of your soul, please follow the links on this blog to learn more about the saving work of Jesus Christ, the risen Son of the living God.
